The Wukub NoJ Ceremonial and Teaching Center is based in the remote village of Santa Clara, a community that is associated to the municipality of Chajul in the Departament of El Quiche, Guatemala.
It is the inspiration of principal ajk'ij (spiritual leader) Don Filiberto Perez and is operated under the management of a community council of which he is a member.
The main purposes of the center are to provide the local community and visitors a place to observe the traditional Maya spiritual practices, to promote the traditions of the Maya ancestors in general, and to reach out to the global community with the prophetic message of Maya philosophy.
As of Summer 2011 the center owns a sacred hill-top that has been ritually initiated by the local ajk'ijab and which serves as the site for a regular ritual schedule. The elders of the community hope eventually to erect a structure to shield celebrants from the elements during the ceremonies, a cook-house for communal feasts, a supply of running water, a supply of electricity, and regular operating funds to support the on-going work of the organization. As of Summer 2011 the Wukub Noj Ceremonial and Teaching Center governing council is in discussion with the M.E.C.G.Caney Indigenous Spiritual Circle to become an official program of the Caney. Until then the Caney supports the work of Wukub Noj as an independent organization.
